May Day - The Ice Is Out

May 01, 2011

Guess it is no secret ... the weather is less than spring-like.  Snow flurries dance in the air, temperatures are cool and the winds quite breezy.  This past week we saw a mix of weather:  sun-filled blue skies that welcomed the return of the loons on Tuesday along with the first blooms of daffodils, blue flags and crocus.  The next day it was cold and blustery; north winds moved the ice right into the docks causing us all to groan with the damage that was wrought.   A memory that will linger is being in Cabin #5  looking out to see a pair of loons swimming in the open water at the beach surrounded by ice floes in the snow fall.

Despite the weather we continue to work and prepare for the opening of the 2011 season.  Forecast shows warmer weather on Tuesday with lows above freezing.   First guests of the season arrive this Thursday.  The fireplace is ready to light, the cappuccino machine ready to brew the first espresso.  Summer will return despite the weather.  The restaurant and lounge will open on Thursday, May 26th.
