From champagne to fox and northern lights

August 05, 2010

Celebrations:   so many have taken place just recently at the lodge.

Thoughtful husbands planning surprises for their much loved wives.

Flowers and champagne came together with a beautiful new large diamond for a special birthday guest.

A planned family birthday vacation for  guests was made even more exciting with the surprise arrival of ‘best friends’ all the way from Park City, Utah joining in on the vacation.

Both husbands had been planning the details; one for over a year, the other since early this winter.....all at Burntside.  What fun we’ve had being a part of and watching these events unfold.

The red fox made his first appearance early in the week to the delight of guests in cabins near the second beach.  Quite friendly and possibly enamored by the smell of marshmallows,  guests have been taking pictures and enjoying the wild life.

The first northern lights in quite a while appeared Tuesday evening twice: first near 10 pm and then just before midnight.  As we sit on the south shore of beautiful Burntside Lake the cabins are in a perfect position for what we hope will be another sighting.

The temperatures have cooled with the forecast indicating the possibility of scattered frost after midnight.  Each summer there is one day that you wake up and receive the hint from Mother Nature that the end of summer is near; today was that day.

A crispness in the air and the need for that extra layer.  There will still be many warm summer days; but .......
