Post Labor Day thoughts

September 08, 2009

Northern Minnesota has been indulged with over a week of fabulous weather. The resort was full with families and couples coming to enjoy the long weekend. The days were filled with hiking, biking, canoeing and kayaking.

Heading toward the Dead River and the Twin Lakes off of Burntside Lake

The attached photo shows cabin guests paddling off to enjoy morning breakfast somewhere on the lake. The lake was so calm, the sky so blue that I yearned to join them; but caught the photo instead. Everyone agreed the weather could not have been any better, warm days and balmy evenings with foggy mornings.

We've said goodbye to our families whose young children are now off to school. Summer lake residents are coming in for their last dinners and to say goodbye as they too, prepare to leave. The summer cycle starts to draw to an end.

Our 2009 season will conclude the weekend of September 19/20, with our last dinner service on Saturday evening followed by breakfast on Sunday the 20th. The Autumnal Equinox is just around the corner on September 22nd, so we find it fitting to end our season as summer draws to a close.
