Late May at The Lodge
« Can you feel the wind and cold? | Late Spring Produce - Restaurant Opening »
May 27, 2009
It's been a week since the doors opened 'officially' for the 2009 season. It has been wonderful to welcome new guests as well as returning guests and share Burntside with them. It's interesting to watch the expressions of first time visitors as they take in all that is Burntside, especially those who appreciate and immediately sense the history down to the tiniest detail. Guests have checked in from France, their comments in the guest book are intriquing: "Fantastic couple days. I am still wondering whether it is calm or silence that we experienced on the lake - we'll have to come back."
Another guest (from Minnesota) inspired me with his comment, "There is nothing more amazing than reality." Even though it is still the early season we already have had some amazing wonderful guests.
We continue to have lows in the 30's (frost on Sunday morning), we're anxious to begin the spring planting. The photograph is from the stunning sunset on Saturday, May 23rd, combine it with the call of the loon and you can imagine how fabulous the day was.
